Hysteroscopy is a procedure that allows your doctor to look inside your uterus in order to diagnose and treat causes of abnormal bleeding. Hysteroscopy is done using a hysteroscope, a thin, lighted tube that is inserted into the vagina to examine the cervix and inside of the uterus. Hysteroscopy can be either diagnostic or operative.

An diagnostic & operative hysteroscopy procedure for treating Infertility, During hysteroscopy, your doctor uses a thin, lighted instrument (hysteroscope) to view the inside of your uterus.

Hysteroscopy procedure may recommend scheduling at the first week after your menstrual period. This timing will provide the doctor with the best view of the inside of your uterus.

This procedure allows us to see if there are any uterine cavity defects such as:

  • Fibroid tumors
  • Endometrial polyps
  • Intrauterine scar tissue
  • A bicornuate uterus or septate uterine malformation
  • Other uterine problems

Hysteroscopy is often done in conjunction with a laparoscopy to examine visually the interior of the uterine cavity for scar tissue, adhesions, polyps, tumours, and other abnormalities and to eliminate endometriosis.

Not all women require laparoscopy, however, hysteroscopy is recommended for all women prior to IVF.
